Inspiration
International session stylist, Matthew Curtis creates looks for designer, Calvin Luo which were a fluid fusion of androgyny and grunge.
The Hair
The hair up's are effortlessly tied ponytail loops. The hair down is natural, effortless and achieved with lots of label.m Sea Salt Spray. The men's look is more of a refined Street style to compliment the monochromatic hues, olive greens, subtle plaids and pops of cobalt and garnet.
The Collection
For 22-year-old Chinese ready-to-wear designer Luo, Fall/Winter 2017 explores a neutral line between masculine and feminine, while ultimately combining both sides to the point of erasing the gender line as we know it. Aiming to break pre-conceived notions linked to gender identity, Luo aims to transcend boundaries and guide his audience to see the true beauty in each individual, evoking the evolution of sexuality and gender as a myth.
Luo brings masculine details to women’s pieces and feminine touches to menswear to the forefront probing the beholder to decide which pieces belong to the boys and which to the girls. Fitted knit dresses, zip ups and skirts are considered unisex and may be worn by a man or woman. A sleek pointed toe, stacked heel boot completes the modern, downtown cool aesthetic
Get the Look
LOOK 1
Step1: Create a straight part down the middle. Use label.m Soft Wax and label.m Shine Spray to create high shine at the top of the head, near the parting.
Step 2: Incorporate label.m Sea Salt Spray to create texture at the back.
Step 3: Finish off with label.m Texturising Volume Spray for natural volume.
LOOK 2
Step 1: Saturate the hair with label.m Sea Salt Spray, giving it as much texture and natural grip as you can.
Step 2: Distress bun, incorporating label.m Texturising Volume Spray to finish the look.
Tip: If hair is short, use a small amount of label.m Soft Wax to prep the hair, adding label.m Dry Shampoo to create texture.
